You’re engaged, congratulations! Now it’s time to start all of the planning which includes finding a photographer. So do you really need the package that includes engagement photos? I believe it’s one of the best things you can do before your wedding and here’s why:
You get to meet your photographer. This is probably the most important thing. It gives you a chance to see if you and your fiancé will get along with your photographer. You’ll be spending the majority of your day with the photographer and it’s important that you don’t clash.
You get to practice in front of the camera. So many couples say that they haven’t had professional photos done or that they “aren’t photogenic people”. An engagement session is the perfect opportunity to learn how your photographer works, and how you and your fiancé will be in front of the lens. A lot of photographers use posing prompts to help you loosen up but a few stick to more traditional poses. (I do a mixture of both posing and prompts!) This is a great way to see what you’re more comfortable with and which poses or prompts are your favourites!
You can display the images at your wedding! The opportunities are endless: centrepieces for tables, use them for your guestbook, decor around the venue, favours etc.
More photos. Why would you say no to more photos? A lot of photographers include a complimentary engagement session when you book with them so there is no additional fee. Take advantage of it! Get some photos in a different season than your wedding, dress in casual clothes or get fancy. The choice is yours!
It’s so much fun! There are so many things you have the opportunity to do for engagement photos. Want to go swimming? Have a paintball fight? Go for a hike with a beautiful view? Get some ice cream? Great news, you can do whatever you’d like! Photographers love doing engagement sessions that help them learn more about the couple and also experiencing different activities.
