Styled Elopement Shoot | Stillwater on the Lake | Peterborough, ON

Once you participate in a styled shoot once, you definitely want to keep doing them. Not only are they a fantastic way to keep your creativity going and add some images to your portfolio, but they also allow you to meet and work with other industry professionals. I participated in a few styled shoots before I decided to do my own. Although challenging at first, it was so fulfilling to see everything come together. What started out as a Pinterest board quickly turned into something I would make happen.

The first thing I wanted to do was find a venue. I came across a Facebook post from Sunny who is the owner of Stillwater on the Lake, a beautiful bed and breakfast location just outside of Peterborough, Ontario. This is definitely a hidden gem and a great spot to get away, or elope somewhere much nicer than city hall. Everything for this shoot started with this venue.

Almost all of the vendors were found on social media. It’s amazing what a simple ISO (in search of) post can do on Facebook. Even the couple was found by making a simple model call post in a Facebook group. Social media now has a huge impact on photographers and other artists. It’s so easy to communicate and share inspiration with like-minded people.

When you have an idea and get a fantastic team on board, magic happens. It was a great first experience of planning a styled session. I look forward to more!
